During the last year our scientific activity and production has significantly in-
Highlights
creased due to the incorporation of two internationally recognized postdoctoral

researchers through the Ikerbasque program (Dr. Bañales and Dr. Perugorria).

Dr. Baales leads the hepatobiliary area in our research group and has significant
national and international collaborations as well as different research projects

related to the hepatobiliary pathophysiology and oncology. Currently there are 5

pre-doctoral researchers who are developing their research projects in our group.
In the gastrointestinal oncology area is important to emphasize the implementa-

tion of the EPICOLON III project, not only because of the online data collection
but also for the development of projects seeking new diagnostic biomarkers in

colorectal cancer. An important step during the past year has been the end of the

study on precursor lesions of gastric cancer that will lead to significant advances
in this field.
