PUBLISHED RESEARCH RESULTS
Highlights
We have demonstrated that: 1) Dietary phytosterols show a protective effect on
breast cancer development; 2) rare apoA-V mutations can be responsible of some
cases of familial hyperchylomicronemia; 3) hepatic lipase- and endothelial lipase-de- à
ficiency affect two well-known HDL antiatherogenic functions, thus constituting po-
tential therapeutic targets; 4) the gut has an emerging role in reverse cholesterol
transport; 5) hyperhomocysteinemia induced by a methionine rich-diet impair several
HDL functions, a concept that links two different cardiovascular risk factors with pro-
tein intake.
